Tagged! 7 Random Foodie Facts….
I have been tagged by the last IT girl, Susan
from The Well-Seasoned Cook to participate in my second meme – 7 Random Facts about me. As Susan did, I am sticking to Foodie Facts to keep up with the theme of this blog! So thanks Susan! I’ll get’cha back when you least expect it!
I challenge all my Foodie Friends on The Foodie Blogroll to participate, by writing 7 Random things about yourself on your blog and then coming over here to tell us about it, so we can see for ourselves!
So here are mine!
1)I love Ketchup. I am sure this will get me thrown out of the foodie blogosphere – but it is true. I used to even eat it on pancakes when I was little….I don’t anymore. But it is my legacy – my Grandfather’s family, after they emigrated to American used to grow tomatoes for Heinz Ketchup. So I don’t feel guilty!
(Did you really think I was going to put a picture of a sweet innocent sheep here??!!)
2)I have eaten every part of a sheep you can imagine. I lived on the Navajo Reservation for some time with 2 elders who live off the land and the herd of sheep they raise. Sheep is their main source of protein and they don’t waste any part of it, meaning that I got my fair share.
3)I cannot figure out cottage cheese. Its consistency makes my mind believe it should be eaten hot. Or if not hot, it has to be eaten with something sweet like fruit. Otherwise I can’t stand it.
4)I hated fruit until about 3 years ago when I spent a whole year forcing myself to like it, because it is so good for you. Now I love watermelon, mangoes, papaya, cantaloupe, blood oranges, figs, dates, coconut, pineapple and blackberries. I still cannot stand apples and pears.
5)The best milkshake I ever had in my life was at a fruit stand in Homestead, Florida. It was a Tamarind Milkshake and I still dream about it. I have to get back there to have another one, someday.
6)My favorite Desert of all time is Sticky Toffee Pudding with Custard. I wish they had it in America (beyond the Haagen Dasz ice cream take on it) because it is so amazing!
7)If I could have only one meal, for the rest of my life, it would be a revolving table of Mezze or Tapas and a glass of red wine. My favorite meals are the ones where I can have little bites of everything. Topped off with Gelato alla Nocciola.

You are right about cottage cheese…what is it really? My grandparents used to eat cottage cheese with prunes.
I don’t care how old I get~ I will never eat cottage cheese and prunes!

Hi there,
Thanks for added me to your Foodie Blogroll and for tagging me!
I have posted my meme!
Tinned Tomatoes: Tag! You’re It!
ps I agree with you about the sticky toffee pudding, but I have to beg to differ about the cottage cheese, I love it on a baked potato!
The Leftover Queen - May 23, 2007 at 12:03 pm
Holler,
Well I guess if the cottage cheese on the potato was hot…maybe…..I’m not totally sure though—off to check out your meme!
Holler - May 23, 2007 at 12:57 pm
Jenn, Just don’t do the hot cottage cheese thing, ugh! Maybe best to differ on the Cottage Cheese, safer!

Well, I’m a little late to the party, but “they” say better late than never. Of course, “they” might be lying.
I am totally with you on the cottage cheese thing – I can only eat it if it has plenty of pinapple on it.

Okay Holler, I think I will just forego the cottage cheese altogether!
Rose! I am glad to know I am not the only one who has to eat it with something sweet! You know what else I love with pineapple? Ricotta. It is like heaven!
Lisa! Excellent! Love the foodie facts!

I only like cottage cheese with peaches, as it’s how my grandmother served it many years ago (we don’t do cottage cheese in Italy, though, so I’m in the clear). Now ricotta, I love at any time, but do you remember how my friend paired it with strawberries and honey–that’s my new favorite 🙂
The Leftover Queen - May 24, 2007 at 6:02 pm
mmm..Cottage Cheese and Peaches sounds okay….
But that Ricotta with strawberries and honey did look divine!
It is also good with a little cocoa powder and espresso mixed in!

Cottage cheese — I just can’t stomach it. How cool that you lived on a reservation though! I would love to hear more about that!!!
The Leftover Queen - July 1, 2007 at 9:11 am
Figs, I feel like I am sending you on a wild goose chase! But I wrote an article about my experiences on the Navajo Reservation on my other website, Travelcloseup.com – here is a link to that article:
